Had a water line leak in my house. It ruined only one room. The kitchen. I tore out the floor (Pergo laminate). I cut out several sections of drywall to find the leak. It was right at the slab foundation. Entire house had to be re-plumbed due to the fact that it was all early polybutylene pipe which has been known to fail. Because it is on a slab, the new pipe had to be run through the top of the living area. The plumbers had to tear out massive amounts of drywall to run the new pipe. I am now on day 3 of drywall repair. Working around my work schedules. 3 rooms to go and then texture and paint. Then lay new kitchen floor. Insurance only covers the repair of the piping and not the damage to the house. I opted to do the drywall repair myself because I wanted to insulate several of the rooms for noise and I did not want a bunch of scabbed in scraps that were cut out in the re-plumb put back in. Today, I get a break for the F-1 race. Yaaaay! Have a Tim Bell racing wreck at COTA in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge for your time. Kinda how my life feels right now. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I'm there with you. Bought a house four years ago and discovered there as no insulation in any walls. Built in 1959 for loggers so they didn't bother. I've been redoing a room a year.

You might want to lawyer up for dealing with the insurance. There's no way that the damage should be outside coverage in a standard homeowners policy.

I will be looking into that this week. Right now, Janet and I just want our house back to a somewhat liveable condition. Bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen are barely useable. The rest of the rooms have been filled with the contents of the other rooms. Have documented everything. Thanks.
